Relaunch / Trust Rebuild

Reopening after drama? Don't paper over the past — install a real reset.

Servers that died from staff scandal, exploit chaos, or community fracture don't come back by 'starting over quietly'. They come back with public accountability, a documented charter, and a measured rollout. KeepGrid generates the full reset stack in about 3 minutes.

Why this is hard

What goes wrong without a system.

Old players assume nothing changed

Without an explicit charter explaining what's new, returning players show up expecting the same problems and leave again on Day 2.

Staff burnout from the previous closure

The team that ran the old server is exhausted. Without documented SOPs, any new staff inherit chaos and quit within a month.

Exploit / drama incidents repeat

If you don't publish what went wrong + what changed, you'll repeat the same incidents. Players don't trust 'we fixed it' without proof.

Whitelist trust is at zero

Returning applicants suspect favoritism if you reopen with a friends-and-family policy. You need a documented intake panel and reviewer recusal rules.

What you get

Tuned to relaunch / trust rebuild.

Reopening Charter

Public document stating the 5 things that will be different. Signed by the staff team. Pinned in #announcements.

Accountability log structure

Discord channel + posting protocol so staff actions are visible to whitelisted members — no hidden bans, no silent comp.

Grievance channel

Dedicated route for returning players to raise past issues. Triage SLA + response template included.

Staged-rollout plan

50 → 100 → public reopening cadence. Day-by-day checklist for the first 14 days post-reopen.

Trust-reset whitelist rubric

Application questions tuned for returning vs new players, with explicit recusal rules for staff who knew applicants previously.

Discord auto-install

30+ channels, 9 roles, permissions, pinned charter — all configured in 60–120 seconds. Idempotent re-runs supported.

FAQ

We're a small team — is this overkill for our 50-player relaunch?

No. The cost of a bad relaunch is server-permanent: returning players who feel ignored never come back, and word spreads in RP communities fast. The $49 install gets you a charter and accountability structure that a 50-player server actually needs MORE than a large one — because every interaction is high-stakes when the community is small.

How do we acknowledge what went wrong without inviting more drama?

The Reopening Charter we generate doesn't recount drama — it states what changed. 'Previous chapter closed' framing, not 'here's a thread for trauma'. It includes the 5 things that are now different (rules, staff structure, accountability, grievance route, rollout cadence) without inviting re-litigation of past incidents.

Should we use the same Discord server or start fresh?

Either works. KeepGrid's installer is idempotent — it'll skip channels and roles that already exist by name and only create what's missing. If you start fresh, the install is clean. If you reuse the old server, the install layers the new structure on top, and you can manually clean up old debris afterward.

How do we handle a returning player who was previously banned?

The Ban Appeal Workflow doc we generate (one of the 13 documents) covers exactly this case. Cooldown table by ban type, structured appeal application, panel review with recusal rules. For relaunch, we recommend a 'fresh start' window where past minor offenses get conditional unban — but with explicit conditions documented.

Is Pro worth it for a relaunch, or only Auto Install?

Pro is most valuable in the first 60 days post-relaunch. Weekly Ops Health scans catch drift the moment it starts (e.g. permissions misconfigured by a new mod, ticket SLA slipping, channels going public that should be private). After 90 days, if your team is mature, you can pause Pro. The first 60 days is when relaunches succeed or die.

Recommended for relaunch / trust rebuild

Relaunch servers need trust, accountability, and drift control — together.

The first 60 days post-reopen decide whether the community comes back. You need the install (so structure is visible and consistent) AND weekly Ops Health scans (so a misconfigured permission or slipping ticket SLA gets caught before it becomes 'they didn't fix anything'). Bundle is the right entry point.
